Thornton played for Davos during the 2004-05 work stoppage, compiling 54 points in 44 games. He met his wife in Davos and told Pierre Lebrun of ESPN.com that he has trained with Davos in the past when they are there visiting family.
Thornton said he is planning to fly to Switzerland later this week.
