Islanders sign Martin to four-year extension
The New York Islanders announced a four-year contract extension for Matt Martin on Saturday night.

The New York Islanders announced a four-year contract extension for Matt Martin on Saturday night.

Martin had seven goals and 14 points in 80 games for the Islanders last season. A fifth-round pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, Martin has 12 goals, 30 points and 294 penalty minutes in 153 career NHL games.

Katie Strang of ESPN New York reported the deal is worth $1 million per season. The 23-year-old Martin was a restricted free agent, and this deal will keep him under contract through the 2016-17 campaign.
