Forwards Devante Smith-Pelly and Kyle Palmieri have been assigned by the Anaheim Ducks to the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Norfolk, it was announced Friday.

Smith-Pelly played 49 games for the Ducks last season, his first in the NHL, scoring seven goals with six assists.

Palmieri played 18 games for Anaheim in 2011-12, and 10 the previous season. He has eight career points (five goals, three assists).

Also assigned to Norfolk were Frederik Andersen, Igor Bobkov, Josh Brittain, Mat Clark, Marco Cousineau, Corey Elkins, Emerson Etem, Peter Holland, Matt Kennedy, Ryan Lasch, Brandon McMillan, John Mitchell, Sami Vatanen and Chris Wagner.

Assigned to junior teams were John Gibson (Kitchener/OHL) and Rickard Rakell (Plymouth/OHL). Assigned to the Swedish Elite League were Max Friberg (Timra) and Tim Heed (Vaxjo).

Once again, it shows character in this dressing room. Once again, there's no quitting in here. We all wanted this so bad and we worked so hard to get home-ice advantage and we weren't going to let this one slide.
