Jackets send top pick Murray back to junior team
The Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday returned 2012 first-round draft pick Ryan Murray to his junior team, the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League.

The Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday returned 2012 first-round draft pick Ryan Murray to his junior team, the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League.

Murray, the second pick of this year's NHL Draft, had 31 points in 46 games last season for Everett while serving as team captain. He had three points in six games for Canada at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, and was the youngest player (18) to skate for Canada at the 2012 World Championship, going without a point in six games.

Boone Jenner, the Blue Jackets' 2011 second-round pick, also was returned to his junior team, the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.

Quote of the Day

That was something I've been dreaming of, something I've told myself before the third period I was going to do ... It was an amazing feeling. It's hard to describe. I didn't believe it went in at first but when I saw all the reaction and all the fans going crazy and my teammates going crazy, it's just an unbelievable feeling. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether to jump or just skate and do a Theo Fleury. I don't think I'm the same caliber player he is so I couldn't do it.
