The Boston Bruins on Thursday signed 2012 first-round draft pick Malcolm Subban to a three-year entry-level contract.

The 6-foot-1, 188-pound goalie, the 24th player taken at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh in June, posted a 2.50 goals-against average and .923 save percentage in 39 games with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League in 2011-12.

Subban was ranked the top North American draft-eligible goaltender by NHL Central Scouting heading into the draft.

Internationally, Subban played for Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team at the 2011 IIHF World Under-18 Championship in Germany, helping his team to a fourth-place finish with a 2.98 GAA and 3-2 record. He most recently helped Team Canada clinch a series victory over Russia in the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge.

His older brother P.K. Subban is a defenseman with the Montreal Canadiens.
