Toronto Maple Leafs sign first-round draft pick Biggs to three-year deal

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs signed forward Tyler Biggs to a three-year entry level contract Thursday.

The 19-year-old from Loveland, Ohio, was Toronto's first-round draft pick (22nd overall) in 2011 and played with the Miami University (Ohio) RedHawks in the NCAA last season.

In 37 games, Biggs had nine goals, eight assists and 63 penalty minutes.

Biggs won gold medals with the United States at both the 2010 and 2011 IIHF World Under-18 Championships, as well as the 2010 World Under-17 World Championships.

Quote of the Day

It's very special, obviously; there is draft day and then there's the day that you sign your first deal. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and I'm very honored to be able to do that."
