Former St. Louis Blues coach Davis Payne is set to join the Los Angeles Kings' coaching staff.
Kings general manager Dean Lombardi confirmed to Rich Hammond of lakingsinsider.com that Payne -- who was fired by the Blues 13 games into last season -- will replace Jamie Kompon on coach Darryl Sutter's staff.
Payne was named interim coach of the Blues during the 2009-10 season after Andy Murray was fired, and went 67-55-15 in parts of three seasons He's also coached in the AHL and ECHL. He led the Alaska Aces to the Kelly Cup championship in 2006.
