Montreal Canadiens forward Scott Gomez won a $50,000 car at his own charity golf tournament on Thursday, the Anchorage Daily News reports.

Gomez won the Acura MD X by hitting a hole-in-on at the Scotty Gomez Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament. It came on the par-3 sixth hole at Eagleglen Golf Course in Gomez's hometown of Anchorage.

Gomez used a 6-iron.

"It kept rolling and then it disappeared," he said.

Gomez said the car would be used by the Foundation.

"The guy wins a car at his own tournament. Can you believe it?" said Marten Martensen, owner of Continental Motors, which provided the prize.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.

— U.S. National Junior Team coach Ron Wilson on Auston Matthews, the projected No. 1 pick of the 2016 NHL Draft
