Canadiens sign F Blake Geoffrion

MONTREAL (AP) - The Montreal Canadiens have signed Blake Geoffrion to a one-year, two-way contract.

The grandson of Hall of Famer Bernie `Boom Boom" Geoffrion, the forward had two goals and three assists in 35 games with Montreal and Nashville last season.

The Canadiens acquired the 24-year-old Geoffrion from Nashville for defenseman Hal Gill.

The announcement was made Monday by general manager Marc Bergevin.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
