NEW YORK -- National Hockey League Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly issued the following statement regarding the collective bargaining sessions that were held in New York July 5 and 6:
"We had two productive days of meetings with the NHLPA and the Players, concluding this afternoon at about 1:45 pm. A number of important issues were raised on both sides of the table, all of which will be discussed more thoroughly as we get deeper into bargaining. We are pleased with the level of engagement and look forward to meeting again next week."
There's no discouragement in that room. There's no issues there at all to be honest with you. It's more about, 'Hey, it's opportunities for players.' And if we become that bad of a team because of one player, it's not a real good sign for our hockey club. So this is part of sports. It's part of hockey.
