USA Hockey announces Evaluation Camp roster
USA Hockey today announced the 46 players invited to participate in the National Junior Evaluation Camp scheduled Aug. 4-11 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Is there any question defenseman Jacob Trouba, forward J.T. Miller and goalie John Gibson feel as though they have some unfinished business to attend to when USA Hockey's National Junior Evaluation Camp is held in August?

U.S. Evaluation Camp roster

The trio happen to be the only returnees from the 2012 U.S. National Junior Team that finished a disappointing seventh at the 2012 World Junior Championship in Edmonton and Calgary.

"I think everyone knows last year was disappointing," Trouba told NHL.com. "That will be on my mind until I get another shot at the tournament. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I know Gibson and JT feel the same way. That's not a feeling we want to have again."

USA Hockey today announced the 46 players invited to participate in the development camp scheduled Aug. 4-11 at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. The players will be auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will participate in the 2013 WJC, Dec. 26 through Jan. 5, 2013, in Ufa, Russia.

USA Hockey has invited 22 players eligible for the 2012 NHL Draft at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, June 22-23, including Alex Galchenyuk of the Ontario Hockey League's Sarnia Sting, and Trouba, defenseman Brady Skjei and forward Stefan Matteau of the U.S. National Team Development Program. NHL Central Scouting has Galchenyuk, Trouba, Skjei and Matteau ranked among the top 20 draft-eligible North American skaters.

In the 2012 WJC, successive preliminary-round setbacks to Finland, Czech Republic and Canada knocked the Americans from medal round contention for the first time in 13 years. The U.S. needed a 12-2 victory over Latvia in the opening game of the relegation round in order to earn a ticket to the 2013 WJC. The seventh-place finish was the lowest for Team USA at the WJC since finishing eighth in 1999.

The development camp in August includes practices, intrasquad scrimmages and international games against Sweden and Finland. A total of 11 players invited also participated in last year's camp. The 2013 U.S. National Junior Team will be selected in late December following a pre-tournament camp from Dec. 19-23 to be held in Helsinki, Finland.

"I'm excited to be a part of this camp ... this will be my first time attending the summer camp," Trouba said. "I looked over the list and there are a lot of good players. I think we will have a very competitive camp. I'm looking forward to being there."

Quote of the Day

We think that Randy is a very good coach. Our players think that Randy is a very good coach. We think that he's going to get the most out of this group. With the addition of the two assistants, a bit of a different dynamic, we're very comfortable that this is a quality coaching staff that's going to maximize the potential of this team.
