Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban will not compete at the at the 2012 IIHF World Championship due to a knee injury, the Habs announced Tuesday night.
Canadiens assistant general manager Larry Carrière announced that Subban will be returning to Montreal due to the injury, which would have sidelined him for two weeks. He will be re-evaluated by team doctors.
The 22-year-old blueliner had seven goals and 29 assists in 81 games in 2011-12, his second full season in the NHL.
