Brendan Shinnimin's winner gives Americans 2-1 series lead over Chiefs

SPOKESMAN, Wash. - Brendan Shinnimin scored the winning goal 14:56 into the first period as the Tri-City Americans beat the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 in Western Hockey League playoff action Wednesday.

Tri-City leads the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal 2-1. Game 4 is Friday in Spokane.

Nathan MacMaster also scored for the Americans.

Steven Kuhn replied for the Chiefs.

Ty Rimmer stopped 24 shots for the Americans.

Eric Williams made 27 saves for the Chiefs.
