Brad Ross scores 4 goals to lead Portland past Kamloops 5-2 for 3-0 series lead

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Brad Ross scored four goals, including two short-handed goals, as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Kamloops Blazers 5-2 in Western Hockey League playoff action Tuesday.

With the game tied 1-1, Ross and Taylor Leier had a pair of short-handed goals 33 seconds apart to put Portland ahead for good and give them a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinal.

Ross added another short-handed goal into an empty net late in the third period.

Brendan Ranford and Colin Smith replied for the Blazers.

Portland goaltender Mac Carruth stopped 38 shots, while Cam Lanigan of the Blazers turned aside 24.
