Saad with three points as the Spirit tie series against the Knights 1-1

SAGINAW, Mich. - Brandon Saad scored twice and added an assist as the Saginaw Spirit defeated the visiting London Knights 5-2 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Vincent Trocheck had a goal and two assists for the Spirit, Garret Ross had a goal and an assist while Brandon Archibald scored a single goal.

Michael Fine also chipped in with two assists for Saginaw.

Greg McKegg had a goal and an assist for the Knights, Austin Watson scored once and Olli Maatta assisted on both.

Jake Paterson made 20 saves for the victory while Michael Houser turned away 26 shots in defeat.

The power play was a major factor for both clubs as Saginaw went 3 for 12 with the man advantage and London scored twice on six opportunities with the extra man.

The series is now tied 1-1 with Game 3 scheduled for Monday in London at the John Labatt Centre.
