NEW YORK -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey has been suspended, without pay, for one game for charging Florida Panthers forward Tomas Kopecky during NHL Game #1183 in Detroit on Sunday, April 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Quincey will forfeit $16,891.89. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred at 5:38 of the third period. A major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing were assessed on the play.
