The New York Rangers will continue their chase of the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference in front of a nationally-televised audience Tuesday night.
The Rangers -- who currently have a four-point lead on the scorching-hot Pittsburgh Penguins atop the East, will host the Carolina Hurricanes at Madison Square Garden as part of the NHL's nine-game schedule. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network in the United States and TSN2 in Canada.
Carolina (26-28-15) trails Washington by nine points for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. The 'Canes have earned points in eight of their last 10 games.
Two games begin at 7 p.m. ET. The Capitals and New York Islanders will meet at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, while the Philadelphia Flyers host the New Jersey Devils at Wells Fargo Center.

At 8 p.m. ET, the Dallas Stars, who are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games, will attempt to inch closer to clinching the Pacific Division as they battle the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center. Thirty minutes later, the Chicago Blackhawks host the St. Louis Blues in a Central Division showdown.
The San Jose Sharks, who got back on the winning track with a victory in Edmonton on Monday night, get right back at it Tuesday as they face the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome. That game is slated for 9:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on TSN in Canada.
In the final game of the evening, the Los Angeles Kings host the Detroit Red Wings at the Staples Center. Opening faceoff is slated for at 10:30 p.m. ET.
