WHL Roundup: A look at Friday's games

Multi-point games seem to be a regular occurance these days for Brendan Shinnimin.

The 20-year-old scored once and set up three more as the Tri-City Americans defeated the host Spokane Chiefs 4-2 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Shinnimin is currently on a 19-game point streak that includes 13 multi-point performances and 51 total points.

On the season, he has recorded two or more points 36 times and now has 125 points in just 65 games.

Adam Hughesman had two goals for the Americans (48-17-3), who have won three straight and are tied with the Edmonton Oil Kings for first in league standings, while Justin Feser had a goal and two assists.

Dominik Uher and Davis Vandane each had a goal for the Chiefs (35-23-9), who lost in regulation for the first time in six outings and sit fourth in the Western Conference.

Ty Rimmer made 35 saves for the win while Mac Engel stopped 15 of 18 shots in a losing effort.

Tri-City was a perfect 2 for 2 on the power play as Spokane failed to score on four opportunities with the man advantage.

At Spokane, Wash., the Americans held a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play thanks to Hughesman.

Hughesman scored two power-play goals in the opening period, one at 4:38 and another at 19:59.

Uher cut the lead in half 1:41 into the second period but Feser scored shorthanded at 11:57 to restore a two-goal lead heading into the final period.

Vandane made it close by scoring at 18:54 but Shinnimin secured a Tri-City victory with an empty-net goal at 19:27.
