Senators' Karlsson fined $2,500 for slashing

NEW YORK (AP) - The NHL has fined Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson $2,500 for slashing Florida's Sean Bergenheim during a game over the weekend.

The slash occurred at 14:06 of the third period in Florida's 4-2 win over Ottawa on Sunday.

Karlsson received a minor penalty for the slash.

The $2,500 goes to the players' emergency assistance fund.

Quote of the Day

It's not always going to be pretty, especially against a great goalie [Lundqvist] like that. My goals are never how you draw them up. It's just a matter of grinding it out and trying to create havoc in front and good things happen.
