The Winnipeg Jets' pursuit of a playoff berth in their first season back in the NHL will resume in front of a nationally-televised audience Monday night.

The Jets -- who currently have a one-point lead for eighth place in the Eastern Conference, will face the Buffalo Sabres at the MTS Centre. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network in the United States.

Buffalo (30-27-8) has won three in a row behind the stellar goaltending of Ryan Miller. The Sabres trail the Jets by just two points for the No. 8 seed in the East.

Monday's action begins at 7 p.m. ET, when the Pittsburgh Penguins aim for their sixth straight win against the Phoenix Coyotes at the Consol Energy Center.

In the final game of the evening, the Edmonton Oilers face the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center at 10 p.m. ET.
Quote of the Day

What we expected is what we got. Very mature young individual that's focused. He is on the right track. He's not only a great hockey individual, but he's a good person off the ice. He seemed to take a leadership role with this group right off the hop and ran away with it, and was vocal, was respectful, was everything it takes to be a Panther. His future looks bright.

— Florida Panthers director of player development Brian Skrudland on defenseman Aaron Ekblad's performance at development camp
