Columbus Blue Jackets recall right wing Cam Atkinson from Springfield Falcons of AHL

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled right wing Cam Atkinson from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

Playing in his first full professional season, the 22-year-old Atkinson has 29 goals and 15 assists in 50 games. He is tied for the AHL lead in power-play goals (13) and is second in overall goals. He has appeared in five games with the Blue Jackets this season and scored his first NHL goal Oct. 10 vs. Vancouver.

Atkinson was the Blue Jackets' eighth pick, 157th overall, in the 2008 draft after he finished his career at Boston College.

Quote of the Day

I had one really not-good game. I came back to the hotel and he [his father] was on Skype. My mother called first and said, 'Your father wants to talk to you.' So he moved my mother away, and he yelled at me for like 30 seconds. I understood him, and then he said, 'I'm done.' And he was gone. The next game I got my first shutout.
