The NHL Network has a hockey extravaganza planned for U.S. viewers Saturday with a pair of exciting games as well as the network debut of "NHL 36: Mike Richards" among the offerings.
The action kicks off at 1 p.m. ET when the Pittsburgh Penguins play host to the Tampa Bay Lightning as the Consol Energy Center. The Penguins are making a push for a top-four seed and home ice in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, while the Lightning need to continue their current run to make up ground and crack the top eight in the Eastern Conference.
There's more of Dan Bylsma's team to be had even after the game ends, as the one-hour debut episode of "Pittsburgh Penguins: In the Room" airs at 4 p.m.
Following that, it's back-to-back episodes of "NHL 36" beginning at 5 p.m. The series follows some of the game's top stars around for a 36-hour period to take you inside their lives both at and away from the rink. A re-airing of the episode featuring Nicklas Lidstrom airs at 5 p.m. followed by the debut featuring Richards at 5:30.
A new addition of NHL Plays of the Week at 6 p.m. followed by the CBC Hockey Night In Canada pre-game show, "Hockey Tonight" will lead fans up to the evening's premier game at 7 p.m., as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Washington Capitals from Air Canada Centre. Both clubs sit just outside of a playoff berth in the East and will be battling hard for two important points.
