KENNEWICK, Wash. - Brendan Shinnimin easily broke the 100-point barrier on Tuesday.
Shinnimin — who needed four points to reach 100 going into the game versus Everett — had a six-point night with three goals and three assists to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 7-2 victory over the Silvertips in Western Hockey League action.
"To be honest, I didn't think it would happen tonight," said Shinnimin, whose 100th point came on an assist on Adam Hughesman's goal at 8:24 of the second period. "I just wanted to play my hardest and everything fell into place. These were two big points, and it was a solid team effort."
The last Tri-City player to reach the century mark was Eric Johansson, who had 103 points during the 2001-02 season.
The Americans (41-15-3) trail the Portland Winterhawks by two points in the U.S. Division and the Western Conference races.
Shinnimin, who has 15 goals and 28 points during his current 10-game point streak, scored two goals in the second period and one in the third.
Patrick Holland added one goal and three assists, while Hughesman had two goals and an assist. Brian Williams scored the first goal of the game for Tri-City, while Ty Rimmer finished with 21 saves for his 24th win.
"Me, Hughesman and Holland had 13 points," Shinnimin said. "We worked hard and deserved what we got."
Reid Petryk and Jordyn Boyd scored for Everett (16-34-9), which trails Victoria and Seattle by a point in the race for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
