OHL Roundup: A look at Saturday's games

When Mark Visentin is in net, the Niagara IceDogs can almost guarantee a victory.

Visentin stopped all 21 shots he faced as Niagara shutout the host Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 3-0 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

For the 19-year-old goalie, it was his 16th consecutive win, with his last loss coming December 3rd, and his league-leading 10th shutout of the season.

With his recent run of success, Visentin has also taken over the league lead for goals against with a 2.08 goals-against-average.

Ryan Strome scored twice and added an assist for the IceDogs (37-16-3), who hold a three-point lead over the Ottawa 67's for first in the Eastern Conference, while Dougie Hamilton added a goal and an assist.

Alex Friesen chipped in with two assists.

This is the fifth time this season that the Greyhounds (23-28-6) have been blanked.

Despite the loss, Matt Murray picked up the game's first star after stopping 43 of 46 shots.

Niagara went 2 for 8 on the power play while Sault Ste. Marie failed to score on either of their opportunities with the man advantage.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Peterborough 4, Ottawa 3; Belleville 8, Mississauga 3; Guelph 9, Plymouth 1; Owen Sound 5, Windsor 4 (OT); Saginaw 6, Sarnia 2 and Barrie 5, Oshawa 1.

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Hamilton opened the scoring with a power-play goal 3:07 into the first period.

Strome doubled the lead for the IceDogs with another power-play goal at 6:40 of the second period.

At 16:35 of the third period, Strome added his 22nd goal of the season to secure a victory for Niagara.

At Ottawa, Ont., Andrew Yogan scored two goals, including the winner, and added two assists as as Peterborough (25-26-6) edged the 67's (34-15-6).

Bulls 8 Majors 3

At Belleville, Ont., Stephen Silas and Adam Payerl had two goals apiece as the Bulls (27-27-1) snapped their three-game losing streak by crushing Mississauga (24-25-7).

Storm 9 Whalers 1

At Plymouth, Mich., Cody McNaughton scored three goals and assisted on two others and six other members of Guelph (24-26-5) recorded a multi-point game as they crushed the Whalers (37-17-3).

Attack 5 Spitfires 4 (OT)

At Windsor, Ont., Jay Gilbert scored the winner 56 seconds into overtime as Owen Sound (28-21-7) defeated the Spitfires (25-27-6) for their sixth straight victory.

Spirit 6 Sting 2

At Saginaw, Mich., Brandon Saad scored twice and set up one more while Josh Shalla had a goal and three assists as the Spirit (27-23-7) defeated division-rival Sarnia (28-22-6).

Colts 5 Generals 1

At Barrie, Ont., Ivan Telegin scored twice and Steven Beyers, Tanner Pearson and Colin Behenna all had a goal and an assist as the Colts (31-21-4) beat Mississauaga (26-26-5) for their first win in four contests.
