The NHL's two best teams will try to add to their point totals in the first and last games on Sunday's seven-game NHL schedule.
The action starts at 12:30 p.m. ET when the best team in the Eastern Conference, the New York Rangers, host the Washington Capitals in a game that will be seen in the United States on NBC and in Canada on the NHL Network and RDSI. The Rangers increased their conference-leading total to 75 points by winning 5-2 in Philadelphia on Saturday. The Caps have been off since Thursday, when they blew a late two-goal lead to Winnipeg and lost 3-2 in a shootout.
Seven hours later, the League-leading Detroit Red Wings will try to match the NHL record for consecutive home wins when they host Philadelphia. The 1975-76 Flyers are one of two teams that hold the mark with 20 in a row at home. The Wings stretched their streak to 19 on Friday by beating Anaheim 2-1 in a shootout. The game can be seen in the U.S. on the NBC Sports Network and in Canada on TSN2.

At 3 p.m., the Southeast Division-leading Florida Panthers try for back-to-back wins in the metropolitan area when the visit the New York Islanders. Florida won 3-1 at New Jersey on Saturday, a game that ended just a few minutes before the Isles beat Los Angeles 2-1 in overtime.
The Kings complete a six-game trip when they visit Dallas in one of two games that will start at 6 p.m. ET. In the other, the Ducks continue an eight-game trip with a visit to Columbus.
Two more games start at 7 p.m. ET. San Jose, coming off Friday's 5-3 home win against Chicago, starts a nine-game trip with a visit to St. Louis. Pittsburgh, which rallied to outscore Winnipeg 8-5 on Saturday, stays home to host Tampa Bay.
