Alfie steals spotlight with two second-period goals

Alfredsson, the captain of the Senators, scored two goals 91 seconds apart to turn a one-goal deficit for his Team Alfredsson into a one-goal lead for the team that features all four of the Senators in the All-Star Game.

Alfredsson received a standing ovation after each of his goals and was also serenaded by chants of "Alfie, Alfie" from the sell-out crowd at Scotiabank Place.

"It's unbelievable," Alfredsson said on NBC. "I'm not sure if I deserve it. I'm very humbled by it. It's been an incredible ride for me."

On the first goal, Alfredsson split the D and then beat Carey Price with a pretty sweet wrist shot.

On the second goal, Alfredsson finished off one of the nicest passing sequences in a game chock full of tic-tac-toe passing. Taking crisp passes from Henrik and Daniel Sedin, Alfredsson received the puck in the high slot and was able to fire the puck past Carey Price, who was out of positioning after challenging a shot from the left that never came.

Through two periods, Alfredsson had two goals on three shots and had an even rating in 10:16 of play.
