NBCSP to televise Wild-Avs on Tuesday
Two huge points in the Western playoff race will be on the line Tuesday night.
Two huge points in the Western Conference playoff race will be on the line Tuesday night. The Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild will pursue them in front of a nationally-televised audience.

The Avs -- who currently reside in eighth place in the West with 54 points, will host the Minnesota Wild at the Pepsi Center as part of the NHL's mammoth 13-game schedule Tuesday night. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network in the United States.

Minnesota (23-18-7) trails Colorado by just one point. The Wild earned a 5-2 victory against the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. 

Four games begin at 7 p.m. ET. The Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders will conclude their home-and-home series at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, while the New Jersey Devils host the Buffalo Sabres. Also, the Winnipeg Jets are in Manhattan o face the Rangers, while the Washington Capitals host the Boston Bruins.

Thirty minutes later, the Philadelphia Flyers head south to take on the Florida Panthers at the BankAtlantic Center, while the Tampa Bay Lightning host the Columbus Blue Jackets.

At 8 p.m. ET, the Pittsburgh Penguins will be seeking their seventh consecutive win as they battle the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center. St. Louis is coming off a hard-fought 3-1 loss at Detroit on Monday.

The Nashville Predators, who continue to roll along behind the stellar goaltending of Pekka Rinne, return to action at 8:30 p.m. ET against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. The Preds made it three in a row with Monday's 4-1 win against Columbus.

Two more games get under way at 9 p.m. ET -- the San Jose Sharks look to bounce back from Monday's 2-1 shootout loss at Edmonton as they face the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome, while the Phoenix Coyotes host the Ottawa Senators at Jobing.com Arena.

In the final game of the evening, the Vancouver Canucks face the Oilers at Rogers Arena at 10 p.m. ET. Vancouver (29-15-4) trails Detroit by five points for the Western Conference lead.
