COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed left wing Colton Gillies off waivers from the Minnesota Wild.

The 22-year-old Gillies, a first-round draft pick in 2007, had two assists and 10 penalty minutes in 37 games with Minnesota this season. He has three goals, seven assists and 30 penalty minutes in 89 career games with the Wild.

Last season, he had 11 goals and 15 assists in 64 games for Houston in the American Hockey League affiliate.

He played four seasons with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League and also scored a goal in seven games to help Canada win the gold medal in the 2008 world junior hockey championship.

I've been getting frustrated lately, and the only thing keeping me sane was the team winning and other people stepping up and scoring. Then you just kind of let it go and realize you can end the series with one shot, that frustration goes away for a brief moment, and that's what happened.
