Blue Jackets place left wing Huselius on injured reserve, recall centre Russell

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Kristian Huselius on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 6, when he suffered a lower-body injury at Montreal.

The club said Huselius is listed week to week.

The 33-year-old has 190 goals and 261 assists in 662 career games, including 58 goals and 84 assists since signing with the Blue Jackets as a free agent in 2008. He also played for Florida and Calgary.

The Blue Jackets also added centre Ryan Russell to the roster on emergency recall from the Springfield Falcons, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate.

He could make his NHL debut this weekend. The Blue Jackets visit Los Angeles on Saturday.

The 23-year-old has nine goals and six assists this season with Springfield.

Quote of the Day

It is really special. I had a lot of friends and family here tonight, and for my first [NHL] game in here it was great. I played here as an elementary-school player in the city championships and this was my first time back. It was a lot of fun.
