SARNIA, Ont. - The Sarnia Sting acquired centre Ryan Spooner from the Kingston Frontenacs on Thursday in exchange for centre Ryan Kujawinski.
Spooner, a second-round pick of the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, scored 14 goals and 32 points in 27 games this season with the Frontenacs (10-23-4).
"Ryan Spooner is one of the elite players in all of junior hockey," said Sarnia general manager Jacques Beaulieu in a statement. "We feel Spooner is another piece to the puzzle that will help us contend for an OHL championship this season."
Kujawinski, a 16-year-old former OHL first-round draft pick, produced one goal and six points in 29 games with the Sting (19-14-5).
Spooner is expected to dress for the Sting on Friday when they visit the Erie Otters.
