Carcillo to have hearing with Dept. Player Safety
Dan Carcillo will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday afternoon regarding his hit on Edmonton's Tom Gilbert on Monday night.

The incident in question occurred during the second period when Carcillo and Gilbert were chasing a puck into the Oilers' zone and Carcillo checked Gilbert into the boards. Gilbert was injured on the play and is expected to miss Tuesday night's game against Buffalo with a lower-body injury. Carcillo, who will have his hearing Wednesday afternoon, also appeared to be hurt on the play.

Carcillo was assessed a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct for the hit. The Oilers would score twice on the ensuing power play en route to a 4-3 win.

The Blackhawks signed Carcillo this offseason to a one-year free agent contract worth $775,000. This season he has 2 goals and 9 assists in 28 games played.

Carcillo, who was offered an in-person hearing, has already been suspended previously this season.
Quote of the Day

I feel that responsibility, I've felt it for the last two years. We core guys get a lot of minutes, we get a lot of opportunity out there. Our teammates, the organization and fans look to us to be the guys to put the puck in the net and to create momentum out there.
