Flames F Bourque suspended 2 games for hit

NEW YORK (AP) - Calgary forward Rene Bourque was suspended by the NHL for two games without pay because he hit Chicago's Brent Seabrook from behind in Sunday's game.

The league says Bourque will lose just over $36,000 for the hit he made at 15:25 of the first period. He got a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.

He will be able to return Friday at Vancouver.

Quote of the Day

He's, believe it or not, actually one of my favorite guys, and I've ended up trading him twice. I appreciate what he's done. He was one year away from being an unrestricted free agent, and I felt with this opportunity, that it was a chance that we were able to get somebody for him in Nick Bonino and Adam Clendening.
