Iginla, Hackett, Carlson are NHL's Three Stars
The Calgary Flames got off to a slow start this season along with their captain, but as Jarome Iginla has heated up, so too has his team.

Iginla was named the NHL's First Star for this past week, with Minnesota Wild goaltender Matt Hackett earning Second Star accolades and Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson receiving Third Star honors.

Iginla recorded a pair of multi-goal games last week as the Flames won three in a row to climb back into the Western Conference playoff picture. He had a three-point effort -- including the game-winning goal -- in a wild 7-6 win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday, assisted on the game-winning goal by Olli Jokinen in a 3-2 victory over the Avalanche on Thursday, and completed his week with another two-goal performance Saturday in a 3-0 win over the Oilers.

After posting just 7 goals and 12 points in his first 24 games, Iginla now has 4 goals and 9 points in his last five games.

Hackett enjoyed a brilliant start to his NHL career and helped the Wild continue their winning ways in the absence of injured goalies Niklas Backstrom and Josh Harding. He entered a game against the Sharks in the opening minutes after Harding was hurt and proceeded to stop all 34 shots he faced the rest of the way as Minnesota pulled out a 2-1 win in his NHL debut. Hackett got his first start two nights later and carried a shutout into the third period, finishing with 42 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Kings.

Carlson contributed consecutive three-point efforts on the Capitals' back end and amassed 1 goal and 7 points for the week. After picking up three assists in a 6-5 loss to the Panthers, Carlson had two more assists and the empty-net goal as the Caps rallied with a four-goal period for a 5-3 win over the Senators. Carlson then added an assist on Brooks Laich's power-play goal that sealed a 4-2 victory over the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
