NEW YORK -- Montreal Canadiens forward Lars Eller has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for boarding Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty in NHL Game No. 372 on Saturday, Dec. 3, in Los Angeles, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 4:48 of the first period. A minor penalty for boarding was assessed on the play.
The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
