Bylsma fires back after Foligno criticizes Crosby
One day after Ottawa Senators forward Nick Foligno called out Sidney Crosby for elbowing him in the head, Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma stood up for his captain.
MONTREAL -- One day after Ottawa Senators forward Nick Foligno called out Sidney Crosby for elbowing him in the head, Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma stood up for his captain.

Following the Penguins' 6-3 victory against the Senators on Friday night, Foligno had some harsh words about Crosby coming after him in retaliation for Foligno falling over Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

"I just kind of got a little frustrated he would do something like that, so I went back at him," Foligno said. "It's not a big deal, but it is something he preached all summer about, that we should limit that, and then he goes and does it. It's over now. But I was disappointed he did that."

When asked prior to the Penguins' game against the Canadiens on Saturday night if he had heard of Foligno's comments, Bylsma responded that he had --and he declined an offer to have the quote read back to him.

Visibly annoyed, Bylsma decided to fire back.

"We're talking about a player that bumped into our goalie three times," Bylsma said. "With the score 5-1 and intentionally going into our goalie, he can expect more than Sidney Crosby coming at him and talking to him during the game. That's how we feel about those situations. He was in our net falling over our goalie, and I don't think there was any question about the intent."

Bylsma was asked if he was at all concerned that Crosby engaging an opponent as physically as he did with Foligno might incite some more severe retaliation in the future.

"I think any time you go in against another team's good players, you want to be physical against them," Bylsma responded. "It's evidenced throughout the year playing against Evgeni Malkin, and now playing against Sidney Crosby. Our good players go into those areas, they play hard in front of the net, they play hard in the corners, and that's we expect. We expect that kind of play from other teams."
