Pearce and Ismond combine for nine points as the Ice defeated the Royals 8-3

VICTORIA - Elgin Pearce had three goals and an assist as the Kootenay Ice beat up on the Victoria Royals 8-3 on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Jesse Ismond scored twice and added three assists while Luke Paulsen, Jaedon Descheneau and Drew Czerwonka added singles to round out the scoring for the Ice (14-5-3).

Kevin Sundher, Brandon Magee and Logan Nelson each scored for the Royals (11-12-1).

Kootenay goaltender Mackenzie Skapski made 25 saves in the victory while Royals’ net minder Keith Hamilton stopped 32 shots in the loss.

Both teams went 0-for-5 on the power play.
