Rangers, Capitals swap minor leaguers

The New York Rangers traded minor league defenseman Tomas Kundratek to Washington in exchange for minor league forward Francois Bouchard.

A third-round pick by the Rangers in the 2008 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-2 Kundratek played in 70 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack/Connecticut Whale of the AHL last season, registering 2 goals, 12 points and 42 penalty minutes. He had 2 assists in seven games for the Whale this season.

A second-round pick by the Capitals in the 2006 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-1 Bouchard played in parts of five AHL seasons for the Hershey Bears, and was a member of their Calder Cup winning teams in 2009 and 2010. His best minor-league season came when he had 21 goals and 52 points in 77 games during the 2009-10 regular season and 5 goals and 10 points in 21 playoff games as the Bears repeated as champions.
