Stars prospect Jack Campbell dealt in OHL megatrade

Goaltender Jack Campbell, the Dallas Stars' top pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, was traded Wednesday within the Ontario Hockey League, going from the Windsor Spitfires to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in a deal that will send two players and six draft picks back to Windsor.

Campbell, 19, was the 11th player taken in the 2010 draft. TSN reports that he's expected to join Sault Ste. Marie later this week.

According to a release from Spitfires Vice President and GM Warren Rychel, Campbell went to Sault Ste. Marie for defenseman Mackenzie Braid, defenseman Patrick Sieloff -- currently playing with the U.S. National Development Team -- Kingston's third pick in the 2012 OHL Priority Draft, Windsor's second and Erie's third picks in 2013, Owen Sound and Saginaw's second picks in 2014 and Sault Ste. Marie's second pick in 2015.

"Jack was the ultimate professional with the Spitfires," Rychel said in a statement. "His dedication and commitment to the team was amazing. It will make him an excellent pro with the Dallas Stars. This is another step in our rebuild and an opportunity for him to win a championship in the OHL."

Campbell, a native of Port Huron, Mich., has 6-3 record, a 3.13 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage with Windsor, which won the Memorial Cup in 2009 and 2010. He led the United States to the gold medal in the 2008 and 2009 World Under-18 Championships and the 2010 World Junior Championship.

"Today we completed a very significant trade which our entire staff has put a tremendous amount of research and thought into," Greyhounds GM Kyle Dubas said. "We compete in a division of very tough opponents. Our goal here is to accomplish sustained success, year in and year out. With that said we feel adding a player of Jack's caliber to our lineup shows our players and our fans that we will do everything we can to reach the level we all feel our franchise is capable of reaching."

Braid is scoreless in four games with the Greyhounds this season; he has five goals and 12 points in 59 games with the Barrie Colts in 2010-11.
