Kronwall possibly injured in Red Wings' loss
Niklas Kronwall appeared to be injured on the last play of Monday night's 2-1 overtime loss for the Detroit Red Wings.

DETROIT -- Niklas Kronwall appeared to be injured on the last play of Tuesday night's 2-1 overtime loss for the Detroit Red Wings.

Kronwall, who just recently signed a seven-year contract extension with Detroit, was headed into the corner to defend Minnesota's Mikko Koivu shielding the puck on a power play in the corner of the offensive zone. Koivu appeared to initiate contact with the Wings' defenseman's face with his shoulder or elbow before getting the puck to the net -- where Devin Setoguchi lifted a rebound into the net for the game-winner 1:33 into overtime.

Kronwall wasn't made available to speak with reporters following the game and no update was given about his injury or how long he might have to miss -- if any games at all.

A more thorough examination will be done on Wednesday and an update should be forthcoming by the Red Wings after their noon practice. Kronwall has a goal and two points in 10 games for Detroit with a minus-4 rating following this loss -- the Wings' fifth winless game in a row.
