Jardine was one of 22 players picked for the team, which will try to improve on last year's fourth-place finish.

"Getting down to 22 players was by no means an easy decision," said coach Kent Lewis. "We had some tremendously talented players in camp, and they did not make our jobs easy as a coaching staff. We're excited about the players we've selected and look forward to getting started."

Twenty-one of the 22 players picked are eligible for the 2012 NHL Draft, led by Sherwood Park Crusaders forward Peter Quenneville. The 5-foot-11,176-pound center leads the AJHL with 15 goals and 35 points in 18 games.

Also key up front for the team will be Jujhar Khaira of Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League. The 6-2.5, 182-pound forward is third in the BCHL with 27 points in 13 games.

Reece Wilcox and Rhett Holland will be big parts of the team's defense. Wilcox (6-3.25, 184) has 6 points in 12 games with Merritt Centennials of the BCHL. Holland (6-2, 225) has 5 points in 17 games with the Okotoks Oilers, and he's third in the league with 93 penalty minutes.

Tyler Briggs of the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL and Sean Maguire of the Powell River Kings of the BCHL are the team's goaltenders.

Canada West will play in Group A at the tournament, with Sweden and the U.S. Group B will feature Canada East, Russia and the Czech Republic.
