The Phoenix Coyotes announced Sunday that they have agreed to trade forward Petteri Nokelainen and minor leaguer Garrett Stafford to the Montreal Canadiens. Phoenix will receive minor leaguer Brock Trotter and Montreal's 7th-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Nokelainen, 25, who has played in parts of five seasons with Phornix, Anaheim, Boston and the New York Islanders, has 17 goals and 18 assists in 194 career games. Garrett, 31, has appeared in seven NHL games while being in the Phoenix, Detroit and Dallas organizations.

Trotter, 24, earned a call up for two games with Montreal in the 2009-10 season while having a very impressive year for the Canadiens' AHL affiliate in Hamilton, tallying 36 goals and 41 assists in 75 games. Trotter spent last year playing 49 games with Dynamo Riga of the KHL.
Quote of the Day

— Arizona Coyotes director of amateur scouting Tim Bernhardt regarding the coincidence that six of the organization's top prospects are sons of former NHL players
