Calgary Flames send tough guy Raitis Ivanans to American Hockey League

CALGARY - Raitis Ivanans's comeback from concussion is going to start in the American Hockey League.

The Calgary Flames assigned the tough guy to their American Hockey League affiliate in Abbotsford on Thursday.

Ivanans has been sidelined since suffering a concussion during a fight with Edmonton's Steve MacIntyre in his Flames debut last October.

The 32-year-old is in the final year of a one-way contract tha pays him US$600,000.

Prior to joining the Flames, Ivanans played 280 career NHL games for Los Angeles and Montreal.
