Caps-Flyers on NHL Net highlights hectic Thursday

The Washington Capitals are off to the best start in franchise history at 5-0-0. The Philadelphia Flyers are still unbeaten in regulation at 4-0-1. The NHL Network will be at the Wells Fargo Center when the two Eastern Conference rivals meet for the first time this season in one of 11 games on a busy Thursday night.

The Caps come to Philadelphia off a 3-0 home victory against Florida on Tuesday, the same night the Flyers demolished the Senators 7-2.

U.S. viewers can tune in to the NHL Network, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

TSN will have a doubleheader for Canadian viewers, beginning with Toronto's first road game of the season, a visit to Boston that also begins at 7. The Leafs rallied on Wednesday to beat Winnipeg 4-3 in a shootout, while the Bruins have had a day to stew after a 4-1 home loss to Carolina on Tuesday.

In the other 7 p.m. start, Montreal tries to snap a three-game losing streak when it visits Pittsburgh in a game that can be seen in Canada on RDS. The Canadiens lost 2-1 at home to Buffalo on Tuesday, the same night the Penguins won 4-2 at Minnesota.

Three more games begin at 7:30 p.m. ET. The New York Islanders, off since beating the Rangers 4-2 on Saturday, play their first game when they visit Tampa Bay. The Lightning have had two days off since Monday's 7-4 loss to Florida. The Panthers are back home to host Buffalo, and Winnipeg moves on to Ottawa.

At 9 p.m. ET, Colorado hosts Chicago in the front end of a home-and-home series. The Avs return to Denver after completing a 5-0-0 road trip with a 3-2 overtime win in Toronto on Monday, while Chicago comes to town after whipping the Coyotes 5-2 in Phoenix on Tuesday.

A half-hour later, the New York Rangers try to build on Tuesday's 4-0 win in Vancouver when the visit Calgary. The Flames beat Edmonton 2-1 at home on Tuesday. The Oilers are back home for a 9:30 p.m. ET start against Minnesota.

At 10 p.m. ET, Vancouver tries to rebound against Nashville, a 3-1 loser at Edmonton on Monday, while at 10:30, the Coyotes host Los Angeles, which routed St. Louis 5-0 on Tuesday in its home opener.
