Fortunately, though, when you're drafted that high, the thinking is you can handle and overcome high expectations.Such is the case with Boston Bruins forward Tyler Seguin, a highly skilled 19-year-old who's looking to burst onto the NHL stardom scene in his sophomore season after a Stanley Cup-winning rookie campaign.
So far, so good. While the defending champion Bruins struggle as a team through four games in the 2011-12 season (1-3-0), Seguin has done nothing but impress. He has amassed four points in as many games, including a goal in the season opener. Moreover, he's a plus-3 player who has accumulated four PIMs and 12 shots on net.
His talent has a lot to do with his early production, to be sure, but his knack for being opportunistic is just as much of a contributing factor. With David Krejci – normally a top-line center for the B's –recovering from an undisclosed injury suffered during a practice, Seguin filled in and played alongside Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic.
In a 3-2 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes, Seguin looked sharp all night and showed he can not only complement established NHL wingers, but can shoulder much of the offensive load, too.
As you aim to tweak your fantasy team rosters, don't look past Seguin and his across-the-board potential this year on a Bruins' team that figures to get its game together as the season progresses.
