Sharks sign Winchester
The San Jose Sharks signed forward Brad Winchester to a one-year contract Monday.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound left wing had been in training camp on a professional tryout contract. In five preseason games, he had a goal, an assist and 18 penalty minutes.
He split last season between the St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks, totaling 10 goals, 6 assists and 114 penalty minutes. He had four penalty minutes in three playoff games with the Ducks.
In seven NHL season with the Oilers, Stars Blues and Ducks, he has 31 goals, 58 points and 464 penalty minutes in 323 games.
Quote of the Day

Life's about opportunity and how you respond to that opportunity, and obviously he must have some swagger about him, some confidence about him, because he was solid. He made some good saves. He was 6-foot-3 on every shot, which is a good thing for a goalie. He played well. We got a win.
