San Jose Sharks sign left-wing Brad Winchester to one-year contract

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Sharks have signed left wing Brad Winchester to a one-year contract.

Winchester was brought into training camp on a tryout basis and ended up earning a contract Monday.

Winchester appeared in five pre-season games, posting one goal, one assist and a team-high 18 penalty minutes.

Winchester split time last season between St. Louis and Anaheim. He had 10 goals, six assists and 114 penalty minutes in 76 games.

Winchester has played seven years in the NHL with Edmonton, Dallas, St. Louis and Anaheim.

Quote of the Day

I definitely think going back down helped me, I had a lot of confidence down there, I played a lot of minutes and I think that helped me a lot. With the 37 games up here, that gave me experience as well. I know what it takes to play in the NHL and now it's time for me to show that I'm capable of being a full-time NHL player.
