Sabres' Hecht ruled out of Tuesday's game
Jochen Hecht is likely to miss playing in an exhibition game in front of his hometown fans in Mannheim, Germany due to concussion symptoms.
MANNHEIM, Germany -- Buffalo Sabres forward Jochen Hecht will not play in Tuesday's homecoming game against Adler Mannheim here at SAP Arena.

Hecht was ruled out after not taking part in Monday's practice at the SAP Arena practice rink.

"I was looking forward to this all summer," Hecht, a Mannheim native, said. "The way it has worked out now is a little bit disappointing. But that is the way it is. I have to get healthy for the season.

Hecht, who missed all but one of Buffalo's Stanley Cup Playoff games last season because of concussion-related symptoms, experienced a recurrence on the first day of training camp when he accidentally bumped heads with a teammate.

He had skated with the team since Friday, but was in a no-contact jersey. However, he was unable to practice Monday and only joined the team for the unstructured part at the end, an appearance that was greeted warmly by the fans at the Sabres' open practice.

"I worked a little hard last week and had some headaches, so I'm taking a step back," he said.
