Bachman & Turner, Three Days Grace and Inward Eye to perform at 2011 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off

NEW YORK – International rock legends Bachman & Turner, platinum-selling rockers Three Days Grace and Winnipeg-born rock band Inward Eye will perform as part of the 2011 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off™ season-opening hockey and entertainment festival at "The Forks" in Winnipeg, October 6, the National Hockey League announced today.  Portions of the musical performances will air on CBC, VERSUS and NHL Network, starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.

CBC's pre-game show, Scotiabank Hockey Tonight, hosted by Ron MacLean and broadcast live nationally starting at 6:30 p.m. ET, will open with a performance from Bachman & Turner. Three Days Grace (@threedaysgrace) will perform a set at the top of CBC's Hockey Night in Canada broadcast of the Toronto Maple Leafs-Montreal Canadiens game. Winnipeg's own Inward Eye (@inwardeyemusic) will open the musical portion of the day's festivities with a performance of songs from their 2009 self-titled debut. All three acts will be introduced by George Stroumboulopoulos (@strombo), host of CBC Television's flagship late-night program, George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, who will serve as the event's emcee.

Canadian rock icons Randy Bachman (@randycbachman) and Fred Turner, the two men at the heart of legendary band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, reunited in 2010 for the first time in 20 years as Bachman & Turner, and now they're set to rock the Scotiabank stage at The Forks. Bachman & Turner and their whip-tight band will perform songs from their new self-titled album alongside classics "Takin' Care of Business," "Let it Ride" and "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet." Over the course of a four-year run, Bachman-Turner Overdrive sold in excess of 30 million records, earning a staggering 120 platinum, gold and silver discs, and notching up hits in more than 20 countries. The pair's official global return was in front of tens of thousands of attendees at the Sweden Rock Festival this past summer, alongside Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses and Billy Idol. The band has since played major festivals worldwide, including the UK's High Voltage Festival. In between their cross-Atlantic jaunts, Bachman & Turner met up with special guest Paul Shaffer to tape an electric performance at New York's Roseland Ballroom. The live concert special, shot in both HD and 3D, was released on DVD and CD/DVD configuration across North America in September 2011.

Three Days Grace

Based in Toronto, Three Days Grace's (@threedaysgrace) self-titled debut was released in 2003 and generated three hit singles, "I Hate Everything About You," "Just Like You" and "Home."  One-X, the band's sophomore album, was released in 2006 and also produced three No.1 mainstream rock singles, "Animal I've Become," "Pain" and "Never Too Late." Mediabase ranked Three Days Grace as the No. 1 artist in airplay across all rock formats - modern rock, active rock, mainstream rock - for 2007. That same year, R&R/Billboard also ranked Three Days Grace as No. 1 Active Rock Artist of the Year, No. 1 Rock Artist of the Year and No. 2 Modern Rock/Alternative Artist of the Year. The band has spent the last two years touring with Nickelback, Staind, Seether and Breaking Benjamin in support of their current album, Life Starts Now. The band's most recent release, Life Starts Now, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200 charts making it the highest debut ever for the band. Three singles from their latest album has reached No.1 on the Active and Mainstream Rock Chart - "Break," "The Good Life" and "World So Cold."

After gaining a strong local following, Inward Eye caught the eye of the legendary band, The Who, leading to a string of dates with their heroes.  The trio is currently in the studio working on their sophomore release.

From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. CT, hockey fans in Winnipeg will be treated to a free, family-friendly affair at The Forks, including attractions that test hockey skills; prizing and giveaways; food, beverage and merchandise tents; and live musical performances and the live game broadcasts on giant screens. For fans 18 years or older, the Molson Canadian Hockey House hospitality spectator area will feature live game broadcasts, cold beer and other entertainment. Popular Winnipeg nightclub Whiskey Dix will host the official 2011 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off after party.  Tickets are $10 each and will be available for purchase at the door.

CBC's pre-game show, Scotiabank Hockey Tonight, hosted by Ron MacLean from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, will cover the opening of a new hockey season live on location from Winnipeg, Toronto and Vancouver, airing nationally at 6:30 pm ET. The one and only Don Cherry returns for the new season with a much-anticipated edition of Coach's Corner, airing live from Toronto during the first intermission of the Canadiens-Leafs game. 

VERSUS will offer live look-ins to the festivities in Winnipeg from its set in Boston for the Bruins home opener against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden and its Stamford, Conn. Studio. VERSUS' coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. during its pre-game show.

NHL Network's coverage of Opening Night will commence at 3 p.m. ET from its set in Boston and will be on the scene in Winnipeg and in Vancouver for the Canucks-Pittsburgh Penguins game at Rogers Arena, wrapping its coverage at 7 p.m. ET.  NHL Network's post-game show will feature highlights from Opening Night, including the banner-raising in Boston and the 2011 Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off™ in Winnipeg.
