Blackhawks sign Segal to one-year deal
The Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday signed right wing Brandon Segal to a one-year contract.

Segal, 28, had 5 goals, 10 points and 41 penalty minutes in 46 regular-season games with the Dallas Stars in 2010-11. He also played 30 games with the American Hockey League's Texas Stars, totaling 7 goals and 17 points.

The Richmond, B.C. , native has totaled 11 goals, 22 points and 79 penalty minutes in 92 NHL games spanning parts of four seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning (2008-09), Los Angeles Kings (2009-10) and Stars (2009-11).

Quote of the Day

I definitely think going back down helped me, I had a lot of confidence down there, I played a lot of minutes and I think that helped me a lot. With the 37 games up here, that gave me experience as well. I know what it takes to play in the NHL and now it's time for me to show that I'm capable of being a full-time NHL player.
