After a devastating loss in Game 3, the Los Angeles Kings needed to bounce back on home ice in Game 4 or risk letting the series get away. The San Jose Sharks hoped to ride the wave of momentum created by overcoming a 4-0 deficit two nights earlier and take a 3-1 series lead back home for Game 5.
A couple of Joes prevented that from happening though, as Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski scored 54 seconds apart early in the third, putting San Jose back on top by three goals at 5-2. Any hopes of a Los Angeles rally were quickly extinguished, and the Sharks went on to double up the Kings 6-3, giving them a chance to close out the series in Game 5 back in Northern California.
